# Payments & Refunds Policy

This policy explains how payment works for purchases made through www.saskatoonclayworks.com, and how refunds are handled. Refund *eligibility* (i.e., how much notice you need to give, and whether you receive a refund or credit) is governed by our [Cancellation Policy](https://www.saskatoonclayworks.com/policies/cancellation-policy) — this page covers how payments are processed and how approved refunds are paid out.

## Accepted Payment Methods

We accept debit and credit card payments. All payments are processed securely through **Shopify Payments** at the time you complete your registration or purchase. Applicable taxes (GST) are added at checkout where required by law.

## Declined Payments, Insufficient Funds, and Fraud

- If your payment is declined — including due to insufficient funds, an expired card, or a flag from your bank — your order or class/workshop/event registration is not confirmed until payment is successfully processed.
- We reserve the right to cancel, refuse, or place on hold any order or registration we reasonably believe involves a fraudulent, unauthorized, or otherwise suspicious payment.
- You are responsible for ensuring your payment details are accurate, current, and in good standing with your bank or card issuer.
- In the event of a disputed charge or chargeback, we may suspend your account or future bookings while the matter is reviewed, and we reserve the right to provide records of the transaction to our payment processor or your card issuer as part of that review.

## Refund Eligibility

Refunds are only issued where a cancellation meets the criteria set out in our [Cancellation Policy](https://www.saskatoonclayworks.com/policies/cancellation-policy). If a cancellation doesn't meet those criteria, no refund or credit will be issued.

## How Approved Refunds Are Paid Out

Where a refund is approved under the Cancellation Policy, it will be issued in one of two ways, depending on which tier of the policy applies:

- **Refund to original payment method** — returned to the same debit or credit card used for the original purchase.
- **Store credit** — applied to your Saskatoon Clayworks account for use on a future booking.

We do not issue refunds by e-transfer, cash, or any payment method other than the original payment method or store credit. This is to protect both you and us from payment fraud.

**Exception:** if your original payment method is no longer valid or available (for example, an expired or cancelled card), a standard refund to that card can't be completed. In these cases, our payment platform (Shopify) will typically flag the failed refund attempt to us automatically, and we will reach out to you directly to arrange an alternative resolution.

Approved refunds to a card typically take 5–10 business days to appear on your statement, depending on your bank or card issuer. Store credit is applied to your account and can be used at checkout on a future booking.

## Gift Cards

Gift cards purchased through Saskatoon Clayworks:

- **Do not expire.** Under Saskatchewan's *The Consumer Protection and Business Practices Act*, gift cards sold in Saskatchewan cannot carry an expiry date.
- **Carry no additional fees** — no activation, dormancy, or service fees may be charged after purchase.
- **Are not taxed at the time of purchase.** GST is applied to the goods or services purchased *with* the gift card, not to the card itself.
- Are non-refundable for cash, except where required by law.
- If lost or stolen, contact us — a replacement fee may apply.
